I'm Angel Bell. And yes, that is my real name. I tell everyone this thing was planned long before I got here.
In 2000 I was blessed with the idea for The Angel Bell. The initial thought was only the poem. I toyed around with purchasing large quantities of bells and attaching the poem. It was finally revealed to me that designing my own bell was the way to go. Something simple, yet celestial.
The Power of Determination
The journey to get The Angel Bell produced was nothing short of interesting. The determination instilled in me by my Daddy wouldn't let me give up. (Check out Pete Bell's Classic Fords to see what a little determination can do. Yes, this is a shameless plug for my Daddy).
"My" initial desire was to work with a company close to home. I spoke with companies from Virginia to Nevada, they all tried to discourage me. Determination in overdrive, one day I plopped down at the computer and typed in "ceramic manufacturers." I went with the first company, BT-Ceramics. I sent them a very pitiful sketch of what I wanted the bell to look like and a sample of the color.
Let me touch on determination again. There was a fancy color chart on the BT-Ceramics website that you were requested to use when submitting your work order. I didn't know how to use it. But where this is a will, there is a way! I had an Atlantic City toothpick holder that was the color I wanted. I looked at it and knew I had to sacrifice it for the greater good. I smashed it and sent a piece of it with my sketch, it worked like a charm.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am to Mr. Gary Huang, the Export Manager at BT-Ceramics. He has truly been my "Angel." There is absolutely no way I could have done this without his support, encouragement and never-ending patience. Thank You so very much Mr. Huang!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I just believed. On November 7, 2000 I picked up my first shipment of 5000 bells. By January half of the shipment was gone.
It's All In The Plan
So many little things I experienced during my life played a part in bringing The Angel Bell to Be. The feeling of awe I had when I received my first angel bell from a customer ( I thought how fun, that's my name); a good friend that passed away after a courageous battle with cancer; my love for helping, motivating, encouraging and inspiring others. The clues were always there, building up waiting for the right time to reveal The Angel Bell.
The Angel Bell Company donates a portion of it's profits to charitable organizations that enrich the lives of children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.
Sometimes it can be difficult to decipher what is God's direction and plan and what is yours. The goal is to get to a point where they are one. That's my story, I'm on a journey to get to a point where God's Plan and mine are one.
